"I began Yoga classes when I was newly divorced and was basically very hurt and dead inside. I turned to to videos and books to practice Yoga and meditation. I soon learned that I did not have the discipline needed to practice on my own. I became very depressed and much more fearful of life. I was eventually diagnosed with clinical depression and placed on medication.
Finally a friend told me about The Yoga School of Milford. I attended for about six months and was doing so much better. Then I quit going for a while and my depression returned and got worse. I have since returned and have now worked with Meena Puri for several years. I will say my fear and depression are presently no longer an issue in my life. The physical benefits are quite obvious also. Spiritually, I feel connected to my God and fellow life here. I've learned to love myself and be thankful for people and things in life. This has been a process and not an event. The changes are very subtle. Meena is a wonderful teacher and human being. She is very skilled at pushing her students to the point that they bend but do not break: physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

I've been doing Yoga with Meena on and off for over three years. It has improved my riding of horses, always gets me centered and gives me energy. I notice when I don't practice Yoga, my endurance and flexibility is not the same. I have recommended Yoga with Meena to several other dressage riders who also feel it has greatly improved their riding.

This story goes to the best Yoga teacher in the world. Thank you a lot Meena. I have been doing Yoga with Meena for many years and have noticed that I have been paying more attention to my breath. Yoga works every muscle in the body, including your neck, head, hamstrings, quads and so much more than you could imagine. But when I'm in class all I really think about is the breathing and also what Meena is telling me to do. Awareness is very important in Yoga. It takes a lot of effort to do some of the exercises. Yoga helps you to stay fit. Even though I have Cerebral Palsy I can do a lot of the different Yoga poses. I think the most important thing that I can focus on in my Yoga class is just to be aware of what kind of movements your body can do for certain amount of time.

My daughter, Erin, was born at 29 weeks gestation. At 69 hours, Erin had a moderate bleed into the ventricles. Thus, she has cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, vision impairment, and developmental delays. At the time of birth, Erin was not on life support, nor did she require support after the bleed. Erin attended therapy sessions with a positive attitude, but as all young persons, it wasn't her favorite thing to do. We took her to an athletic club where we worked out on machines, but that was somewhat boring, and I didn't have equipment at home to use in between sessions. After that, I went looking for something Erin could do that would be beneficial and fun for her. Hence, I found The Yoga School of Milford. I called Meena Puri. Meena said she would like to see Erin and thought Yoga would be beneficial for her. She did some research on cerebral palsy before we came for the first session and tailored her workout for Erin's benefit. Since then, I have Erin in private lessons and I must say this has been the best thing for her. Her leg strength, body awareness, muscle tension has all improved and/or maintained itself. She focuses better on tasks. Erin looks forward to Yoga each week and practices in between sessions. she loves to talk to other people and show them what she has learned. I would definitely recommend Yoga for persons with disabilities. It is not only good for muscles but the mind. Erin feels good about herself and her accomplishments, and I owe that to Meena for being a great instructor and willing to challenge herself with the needs of my daughter.
